Cymau is quite the prettiest little hamlet.  Situated on the slopes of Hope Mountain, it quietly resides in an area of outstanding beauty.  The name seems to derive from the Welsh word, ‘cwm’, meaning ‘valley’, or more properly, a hollow like feature in a glaciated valley.  Once isolated, with the arrival of the Industrial Revolution the hamlet became part of a network of settlements that include Ffrith, Brymbo and Llanfynydd.
